Machine Designer / Engineer

As a Machine Designer, your core efforts will be in analyzing, concepting and designing production machinery and solutions. Involvement of Senior designers is also required during the concepting phase to assist sales for solutions applications. Creative minds will see their engineering talents put to practical use as we empower our staff to try new ideas and think outside the box.

The machines we work on range from small special purpose assembly machines to large converting machines, so an analytical mind is essential. Knowledge of a full range of motion methods (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic) is key, along with Design for Manufacture / Maintenance understanding.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 4+ years’ experience in machine design of converting equipment or packaging machines, and have a few machines to your design credit
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with SW expertise
  • Ability to conceive designs for their movement, translation and processing of materials
  • Perform engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, pressure, force as related to machine designs
  • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness in the development of equipment, processes, and products
  • Proficiency using Motion Analyzer software is an asset
  • Ability to travel (domestic and international) up to 25% of the time
  • Self-motivated and disciplined to time commitments while working on multiple projects
  • Clear communication ability to staff & clients in a professional manner
  • Knowledge of estimating is an asset
  • Located within 45 minutes of our office (Brantford) is preferred

Compensation

  • Overtime after 40 hours
  • Company sponsored pension up to 5% salary
  • Benefits program without payroll deductions
  • Daily per diems for travel and service
  • Type of position: Hourly
  • Base salary: $60,000 - $75,000 (dependant on relevant experience and knowledge)

  • Walk up to 5 km per day
  • Lift up to 50 lbs
  • Stand and work at heights (training will be provided if required)
  • Work in confined spaces (training will be provided if required)
  • React quickly to sounds
  • Wear protective gear, including safety shoes, glasses, vests, and masks as required
